Dan Singer scored the winner in the third and added a second late in a 6-3 IceDogs win over visiting Guelph. The win moves the 'Dogs to within 4 points of Central leading Barrie, with Niagara holding two games in hand.
Akil Thomas opened the scoring at 8:29, converting his 11th off a Liam Ham point shot. Guelph would respond 54 seconds later but a Willie Lockhead point shot 37 seconds after that restored the one goal advantage. Both Kirill Maksimov and Justin MacPherson picked up assists. The IceDogs managed a season high 16 first period shots, compared to 12 from Guelph.
The second proved to be a different story as the Storm fired 17 in Stephen Dhillon's direction as the IceDogs managed 9 shots in reply. The only goal of the period from Guelph tied things at two heading into the third.
In the final period, Kirill Maksimov fired home his 24th, short-handed at 3:19 from Ben Jones and Liam Ham. Once again, Guelph tied the score just over three minutes later. Dan Singer's winner came at 14:07 with the assist going to Ben Jones. Oliver Castleman's 8th at 15:34 from Philip Tomasino at 15:34 made it a two goal bulge before Dan Singer's 18th came on a breakaway off a turnover in the Guelph zone less than a minute later. The victorious home team surrendered only 6 shots in the final twenty, while managing 10 shots of their own. For the game, shots were even at 35 apiece.
