The IceDogs began the post-Christmas break with a 5-3 win in Barrie. Matt Phillip scored the winner with 2:32 to go on a bank shot off the Colts netminder.
Dan Singer scored on a speedy breakaway in the first but Barrie responded with three unanswered in the second. Goals by Akil Thomas on the power-play and Ondrej Machala even strength tied it 3-all. Stephen Dhillon took over as the Dogs were short two men a minute later. Several outstanding save kept it 3-all after two periods.
A cautious third lead to chances from both teams but it was a sharp angle shot from behind the Barrie goal line that would deflect into the net and prove to be the winner. The ninth for Matt Phillip would be followed by number ten for Johnny Corneil late in the contest.
