The IceDogs went to overtime for the third time in four games, losing in a shootout 6-5 to visiting North Bay Friday night. David Bell’s Dogs survived an early deficit and a five minute Battalion power-play in the third to pick up a point for the fourth time in five games.
Christopher Paquette provided the early lead with his first of two at 2:11 of the first. North Bay would reply with three unanswered before the IceDogs mounted a second period comeback,
Ryan Mantha scored his 5th at 3:37 while Danial Singer’s second at 16:44 tied the game. Paquette’s 10th of the year with the man advantage, in the final minute made it 4-3 IceDogs.
In the third, North Bay managed to even the score before Johnny Corneil notched his 5th on a right wing bullet to make it 5-4 at 13:13. Just over a minute later it was tied once again.
The IceDogs were denied in overtime, including a full two minute power-play. In the shootout, five IceDogs shooters were turned away while Stephen Dhillon kept the Battalion at bay until the fifth and decisive shooter.
Tuesday sees the IceDogs return to action on the road in Peterborough. Pre-game time is 6:30 on 610 CKTB.
