Colton Incze made 34 saves, many of the spectacular variety, but it wasn’t enough as the IceDogs fell 5-3 In Kingston Saturday night. Akil Thomas, Sam Miletic and Dan Singer scored Niagara’s goals
Scoreless after one, the Ice Dogs sent a season high 18 first period shots the way of the Kingston net. After the Frontenacs grabbed the lead in the second on the power-play, the visitors responded. Captain Johnny Corneil’s persistence paid off as he was stopped in tight twice before feeding the puck to Thomas who roofed his 15th of the year at 9:46. Billy Burke’s team jumped in front as Miletic netted his 26th on a scramble in the Kingston crease, Thomas and Kirill Maksmov chalked up assists at 13:03. A late Kingston goal made it 2-all after two.
In the third, Kingston benefited from another man advantage situation to take the lead and it stayed 3-2 until the IceDogs emptied their net with 2:32 to play. After Kingston hit the empty net to make it 4-2, Dan Singer backhanded home his 22nd from Maksimov and Miletic at 19:11. Off the ensuing face-off, again Incze headed to the bench as the ‘Dogs hustled to get the equalizer but a bouncing puck once again became and empty net goal to make the final 5-3.
