The young, improving IceDogs continue to slowly climb up the Eastern Conference standings following a 3-2 overtime loss in Hamilton. David Bell's IceDogs have now recorded points in 8 of their last 10 OHL games.
The visitors from St Catharines would give up the only goal of the opening period but made it a 1-all game 2:52 into the second on Ryan Mantha's 6th of the season on a power-play.
In the third, Jon Schaefer's first as defenceman, gave the IceDogs a 2-1 lead 32 seconds in. Schaefer's only other OHL goal, came as a forward, last spring in the East Final versus Barrie. Hamilton would tie the game with less than five to play and win it 1:05 into overtime on a 4 on 3 power-play.
The IceDogs return home and return to action Friday night. It's the first visit and first matchup of the season with the Ottawa 67's. 610 CKTB has the call beginning with the pre-game at 6:30.
