In a game that featured 99 shots, the IceDogs would lose a 5-4 shootout heartbreaker to visiting Barrie. The IceDogs were able to bounce back twice from deficits to get the game to overtime.
Down 2-0 in the first, Christopher Paquette would fire a point shot home on the power play to the get the home side on the board. Niagara would better Barrie in first period shots, 15-11.
Late in the second, Oliver Castleman scored to tie it at 2. With a little over 12 seconds left, a Ryan Mantha power-play bullet gave the IceDogs the lead. The middle period was dominated by the home team in shots, 20-11.
The third was a different story as Barrie fired 23 shots the way of Stephen Dhillon, tying the game in before the 90 second mark. The Colts regained the lead, 4-3, at the 8:41 mark but Graham Knott brought the Dogs back less than 40 seconds later. Shots on goal in regulation, Barrie-45 IceDogs-44.
Dave Bell’s team began overtime on the power-play, with both goalies making outstanding saves. Seven of the ten shots came from the IceDogs. There was only one goal in the shootout, giving Barrie the win and the extra point.
