Trailing 4-1 after one, the IceDogs scored three unanswered in the second then held off a furious Erie attack in the third before falling 5-4 in overtime. The Dogs picked up a possible 7 of 8 points, completing a string of four consecutive road games.
The Otters built a 3-0 lead in the first before Ben Jones struck for his sixth of the year at 17:27. Akil Thomas and Elijah Roberts added assists on Jones' league leading fifth power-play marker. An Erie goal in the final two minutes would bring Colton Incze into the game in place of Stephen Dhillon.
In period two Matt Philip's second at 5:29 narrowed the gap to 4-2 with Ben Jones and Liam Ham counting assists. Colton Incze then stood tall as the Dogs defended a 5-3 Erie advantage for almost two full minutes. Once again at 16:29, in a man advantage situation, Kirill Maksimsov's fourth on a one-time blast made it 4-3, with help from Roberts and Jones. Akil Thomas notched his 5th from Johnny Corneil and Maksimov with 34 seconds left to complete the comeback.
Outshot 12-1 in the third, Colton Incze would be a main reason why the game went to overtime.
In the extra period, the Dogs had one great opportunity but were unable to convert. Erie fired another three the way of the IceDogs goal with the winner coming at 3:41. For the game Erie held the edge in shots 30-22.
