IceDogs forward Kirill Maksimov has been selected in the 5th round of the NHL entry draft, 145th overall by the Edmonton Oilers. Maksimov counted 21 goals and 38 points in the 2016-2017 OHL campaign.
Acquired by the IceDogs from Saginaw this past season, Kirill scored 6 of his goals in his 37 games with the Spirit. His draft stock rose quickly in an IceDogs uniform, where he hit for 15 markers in only 29 games. His season highlight was back to back hat tricks in early March against Erie and Owen Sound. The production continued in the post season where he was a point a game player.
