The IceDogs played their most complete game of the year as their fans took time to remember those who give us more than we can ever repay, wining the Remembrance Day Game 5-1 over Barrie. Akil Thomas led the way with a “Gordie Howe Hat-trick”, a goal, an assist and his first OHL fight.
On a day when Graham Knott was traded to Windsor for picks, Ben Jones opened the scoring 50 seconds in on assists from Thomas and Johnny Corneil. The last minute of the period extended the lead to 2-0, as Kyle Langdon notched his first of two on a Barrie deflection into their own net.
In the second, Danial Singer made it 3-0 on a hard work marker from captain Ryan Mantha. Stephen Dhillon would be perfect on 17 Barrie shots; making 41 saves overall for the win.
In the third, Langdon’s second of the game and Thomas’ 5th of the season rounded out the scoring.
Saturday night brings Sudbury to town and 610 CKTB has all the action beginning with the pre-game at 6:30.
