First star Sam Miletic scored the tying goal and added two assists in his first game with the IceDogs in a 5-4 shootout win over Erie. Akil Thomas netted the shootout winner after Miletic tied things at one.
The Otters got the jump on the home team early before Ben Jones scored his 15th at 9:23 from Matt Philip and Elijah Roberts. The goal extended the Ben Jones point streak to 12. Drew Hunter celebrated his 4th of the year from Miletic and Thomas at 10:43, burying his own rebound. The first period shots favoured Erie 11-10.
The game remained tied through the mid-way mark of the second, with Erie scoring three unanswered to lead after 40 by a 4-2 count. Erie again registered 11 shots, with the IceDogs managing 8 of their own.
In the third, Dan Singer fired his 20th home at 8:38 from Miletic and Liam Ham. The 'Dogs competed the comeback at 10:19 with Miletic extending his goal scoring streak to four games. Ham and Singer chipped in with assists on his 17th of the year. The IceDogs had a chance to win it in regulation, enjoying a full two minute 5 on 3 late in the game that resulted in 16 shots compared to 9 Erie attempts.
In overtime, the Otters would count all four shots on goal. For the game, Erie had the edge 35-34. In the shootout, after the second Erie shooter slipped one by Stephen Dhillon, Miletic's great backhand move made it one-all before Akil Thomas roofed a shot over the glove hand of the Erie netminder to claim the extra point.
