A woman convicted of first degree murder in the kidnapping, murder, and rape of a little girl is back behind bars.
The outrage from members of the public was swift when it was revealed Terri-Lynne McClinic was spending time at an Indigenous healing lodge that is part of Canadian Correctional Services.
McClintic is serving a life sentence after pleading guilty to the 2009 murder of eight year old Tori Stafford from Woodstock.
Rallies and protests followed the news of McClintic's transfer to the Healing Lodge, with members of Tori's family urging politicians to step in and reverse the decision.
Before she was sent to the Okimaw Ohci Healing Lodge in Saskatchewan, McClintic was serving her sentence in the Grand Valley Institution for Women near Kitchener.
Tori's father, Rodney Stafford, says she has now been moved to the Edmonton Institution for Women.
He calls it a bittersweet moment while thanking the community for their support.
