Colton Incze stood on his head, making 40 saves satruday night, as the IceDogs fell 3-1 in Barrie. The game’s first star had to make 18 saves in the second period alone.
Scoreless until just after the twelve minute mark of the first, when Johnny Corneil took an Akil Thomas feed in the slot and fired home his 17th of the year. The Barrie response came 23 seconds later, ending the period at 1-all. The Colts recorded 12 of the opening period’s 23 shots. Incze was called upon to make several outstanding stops.
In the second, all Colton, as the IceDogs killed off three Barrie power-plays. Among his 18 saves was a stop of the year candidate on a one-timer in close from Barrie’s top goal scorer.
The winner came on a third period 3 on 1, just before the mid-way mark. A late empty net goal sealed the deal for the home side. The ‘Dogs fired 16 the way of the Colts net but were unable to bury a number of rebound opportunities. For the game, the shot clock read, 43-38 in favour of Barrie.
