An investigation is underway after a citizen brought up concerns with activities at the Thundering Waters site in Niagara Falls.
City Planner Alex Herlovitch says he recieved a complaint from a citizen Friday afternoon and sent a staff member out to see what was happening earlier this week.
"Basically [the staff member] wasn't able to ascertain the extent of cutting, but certainly cutting was going on while he was out there Tuesday morning."
Herlovitch says he was in touch with the developer's chief planner who said he was not aware of the cutting.
The developer had received approvals to remove dead trees in the past. Herlovitch says he believed that cutting would have taken place in the Fall.
Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority officials say members of their staff also visited the site on Tuesday morning, and they are currently reviewing the information to 'determine what further actions may be taken under the applicable legislation.'
The NPCA cannot provide further details because this is an active investigation.
