Hornblower Cruises is explaining why the iconic Niagara Falls boat ride has been suspended.
Vice President and General Manager at Hornblower Niagara, Mory DiMaurizio tells CKTB they believed they fell under the 'attraction' category in the government's reopening documents, but that wasn't the case after all.
"It lies in the words of the order, and we need to get that sorted out. It's a technicality in the legal framework of how the order was written."
The popular tourist attraction reopened Canada Day, but has ceased operations until they can comply with current provincial emergency orders.
The Niagara Parks Commission says boat tours are categorized under Tour and Guide Services and must comply with rules that state they cannot exceed 10 people on the boat.
Hornblower is now approaching Niagara Public Health and the government to receive approval and to be put into the 'attraction' category.
Each boat holds 700 passengers, and DiMaurizio says the boat was physically distancing 100-150 people on each vessel when they started operating.
