A political soap opera is playing out along the shores of Lake Erie, in rural Norfolk County.
Less than two years after the last municipal election, the county has lost its fire chief, county treasurer, a pair of public health nurses, two economic development managers and has seen five CAO's come and go in the last year alone.
The Hamilton Spec reporting some of those losses were voluntary, while others were shown the door.
In January, homeowners found out they would be paying 16.8 percent more for water and 8.4 percent more in property taxes.
Councillors have also agreed to sell off public land, and close two museums, an arts centre, hockey arena and seniors centre.
Mayor Kristal Chopp, an Air Canada pilot, defends the cuts saying council inherited serious financial issues and she intends to deal with them.
And if social media is an indication, it looks like Norfolk residents back Chopp's efforts saying cuts have to be made sooner or later.
