A McMaster University professor is sounding the alarm about plastic pollution in the Great Lakes.
Gail Krantzberg, an engineering and public policy professor at the school, says pollution from plastics is as much of an issue in our lakes as it is in the world's oceans.
The warning comes after Krantzberg launched a review of research on plastic levels in the lakes.
She says plastic bags and sewage waste are the main sources of pollution.
Krantzberg adds governments have a role to play to address the problem and she suggests one solution is a ban on plastic bags.
