It was time to address the elephant in the room.
That's the comment from the NPCA interim Board Chair following news that the authority's CAO is no longer with the government agency.
It was announced yesterday that acting CAO Dave Barrick has parted ways with the agency in a mutual separation agreement.
Chair and West Lincoln Mayor Dave Bylsma believes it won't come back to haunt the NPCA since it was done in a responsible way.
He says this deal is in stark contrast to Mark Brickell's lawsuit against the NPCA, saying they worked hard to ensure Barrick's departure would not come back to bite them.
He will not release the financial settlement given to Barrick, saying he has to "clam up" since it's a legal matter.
Barrick, a former Port Colborne regional councillor, was fired as the NPCA's corporate services director last November but then was rehired the following month and given the CAO's job.
Barrick replaced Mark Brickell as CAO and Brickell is now suing the agency for 2.3 million for wrongful dismissal.
