The Niagara IceDogs have named Joey Burke as the team’s third General Manager in their history. Burke will continue to work with coach David Bell utilizing talents and contacts in building the IceDogs talent base.
Joey began as the team’s goaltending scout in year one. He continued his climb within the organization as part of the scouting staff, before being named as Assistant General Manager prior to the 2010-2011 season. Joey held that job until last season, where he was promoted to Director of Player Personnel.
As Director of Player Personnel, Joey made a collection of trades this past year acquiring six 2nd round picks, four 3rd round picks, as well as a 4th, 5th, and 6th round pick in the next four OHL Drafts. Kirill Maksimov and Justin Brack were also added to the roster via trades.
The CHL's youngest team once again made the OHL playoffs for a 10th consecutive season in St Catharines.
