A Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine candidate trial has been paused after an unexplained illness in a study participant.
The illness is being reviewed and evaluated by an independent Data Safety Monitoring Board and the company's internal physicians
In a release, officials say illnesses are an expected part of any clinical study and 'Serious Adverse Events' are not uncommon in trials.
Further details on the illness are not being released at this time in an effort to respect the participant's privacy.
