A 31 year old man is facing a slew of charges following a year long national human trafficking investigation.
The joint investigation with Niagara Regional Police and the Nova Scotia RCMP Serious and Organized Crime section has led to the arrest of Lorenzo Trevor Thomas.
He was arrested back in March in Niagara Falls.
A search warrant was executed at a residence in St. Catharines where officers seized a loaded 45 calibre handgun.
Thomas is facing 14 charges in total, many related to human trafficking as well as assault and possession of a restricted weapon
In April of 2016, information came forward to the Nova Scotia RCMP indicating that men originally from Nova Scotia had relocated to Ontario and were trafficking and exploiting women from Nova Scotia in the sex trade across Canada.
Thomas remains in custody in Ontario.
He's slated to appear at Niagara Provincial Court on Tuesday.
Additional charges are expected.
