An improvement project in Jordan Village has now received the green light from the Province.
The project includes realigning the intersection at 19th and King Street with a traffic signal, a pedestrian friendly gathering area on Main street, and a new street between 19th and Main.
Upgrades to 19th Street and Main Street will focus on active transportation, pedestrian safety, parking, beautification, and stormwater drainage.
The project had been put on hold while the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change looked into it; the ministry has offered suggestions including adding cycling lanes, holding at least one public open house during the design phase, and consulting with the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority to determine additional mitigation measures for stormwater runoff.
The town and the Niagara region are now moving forward with the design phase.
