Ontario jurors who are left traumatized after sitting on a trial or coroner's inquest will soon have more support.
Jurors will be able to call a hotline after their service is finished or make a request for support from the judge or coroner while a case is ongoing.
The move comes after a juror in the Tori Stafford murder case in London, took the province to court arguing the province should pay for some of her therapy for the post traumatic stress disorder she developed during the three month trial.
Before her case went to court the province said it would step up and help her.
Under the new program announced yesterday, jurors who feel they need counselling can get it in person, over the phone, by video-conference or by email, in English or French.
