Officials with the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority say we can expect water levels to slowly start to ebb but even so, the lakes may remain high into the foreseeable future.
A release from the NPCA notes water levels are starting to stabilize thanks to some warmer and dryer weather last week, but both Lake Erie and Lake Ontario remain swollen well above average.
Both lakes set records this year.
Currently, Lake Erie is sitting 14 cm above the record high from July of 1986, while Lake Ontario has diminished slightly, now sitting 3 cm below the peak level recorded in mid-June.
The Lakeside Park Carousel remains closed due to flooding at the park.
