A submarine is scouring Lake Ontario in search of nine Avro Arrows -- prototypes of an advanced Canadian jet fighter that was cancelled in 1959.
If the models are recovered, they'll be displayed at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum in Ottawa and the National Air Force Museum of Canada in Trenton.
They were launched from a military base in the 1950's as part of the development of a supersonic interceptor built by the Canadian military.
The jet fighters were meant to counter potential Soviet bomber attacks in the North American Arctic.
