A group of Hamilton landlords is making a move to get rid of the name because of the medieval connotations.
The president of the Hamilton District Apartment Association Arun Pathak says it just has a bad ring to it, somebody lording over the land.
Pathak tells CKTB'S Larry Fedoruk, the term landlord conjures an image of a callous and wealthy man collecting cheques each month and doing little else.
He notes it's simply not a good term to describe what they do.
Pathak says they want to change the image people have of landlords, stressing it's not just collecting rents, your are working throughout the month, providing work for lots of people and obeying around 10 different pieces of legislation.
Right now rental term provider, is leading the pack.
