A St. Catharines property owner has been fined 8-thousand dollars for failing to have a working smoke alarm.
It's the largest fine ever handed down for a smoke alarm violation.
The owner of the property at 412-416 St. Paul Street pleaded guilty to six charges following inspections at the property back in March and April of 2016.
The property owner was convicted of three counts of failing to maintain smoke alarms.
Five other charges for related violations were suspended.
