There are several calls coming from US lawmakers who want the board that runs Niagara Falls' wastewater treatment plant to resign.
This comes after tourists to the Falls were met with smelly, black water stemming from the American side over the weekend. The Niagara Falls Water Board has said the discharge happened as a result of routine maintenance of a sedimentation basin.
Members of the Niagara County Legislature's Republican majority are saying they also want the New York attorney general, county district attorney, and the Environmental Protection Agency to investigate.
A Department of Environmental Conservation investigation has been launched - the department has already said the discharge violated state water quality standards by changing the colour and odour of the Niagara River.
