The union representing workers at the Niagara Catholic School board is upset over some planned layoffs.
CUPE local 1317 says 32 staffers, which include maintenance and custodians, secretaries and administration staff, IT workers, educational assistants and early childhood educators are being laid off as early as next month.
CUPE local President Anna Maxner says the jobs are vital to the school system and says the cuts will negatively impact school operations.
The union is urging parents and concerned residents to attend upcoming school board meetings to raise concerns about the cuts and ask trustees to invest in education.
