It's Black Friday, a day that typically marks the unofficial start to the holiday shopping season.
Canadians aren't immune from the madness and most area malls and stores are planning early openings to kick off a day of what shoppers hope are worthwhile deals.
But in the U-S analysts say the hype appears to be fizzling.
Experts say Black Friday sales have been suffering, they fell an estimated 12 percent in 2015.
And they blame online shopping in part for the decline.
The National Retail Federation noting online sales are expected to increase between 7 and 10 percent this holiday season to as much as $117 billion.
