The Canadian Paediatric Society has released its first standalone recommendations for how much time children under five should spend in front of a digital screen.
It encourages parents to keep smartphones, tablets and even T-V away completely from children under two.
Canadian and U-S guidelines recommend children aged two to five should get no more than an hour of screen time per day, and should turn screens off an hour before bedtime.
Dr. Michelle Ponti says research shows exposure can affect sleeping patterns, stifle learning development and cause other behavioural problems.
