Humans weren't the only ones trying to beat the heat over the long weekend.
As the humidity drove the temperature up to feel like 45 degrees on Saturday, officers from the Lincoln County Humane Society were called to the Welland Canal Parkway by Lock One to rescue 8 baby ducklings stuck in a storm sewer.
It took more than an hour to round up the little feathered friends.
The mother was nowhere in sight, so the ducklings were taken to a licensed rehabilitation centre.
