The Mayor of Lincoln is expressing her approval following the announcement of extended Go Bus service in Niagara.
Mayor Sandra Easton joined CKTB's Lee Sterry and says the extended service will benefit many people, especially those in school.
"The extra time, you know the extra stops now will certainly be a great assistance to students going to Niagara College. It's a wonderful, wonderful announcement."
Meanwhile, congestion on the QEW remains an issue.
The Ministry of Transportation says they are carefully examining the busy highway to fix the issue, but Easton says she thinks she knows what's causing the problems.
"I think one of the things is a lot of people are commuting and there really isn't the degree of rapid transit for people to take, it's not convenient enough."
She also says our access to the US border means a lot of businesses rely on the QEW to move their products.
"There's certainly a lot of trucks on the highways so we know that there's plenty of goods being moved around."
In addition to increased service across the network, Go Transit has added six more workweek busses to the Burlington-Niagara Route starting on September 2nd, cutting the wait between busses down to half an hour.
