Dozens of Sears stores destined for closure will begin liquidation sales today, but experts warn bargain hunters to temper their expectations.
The ailing retail giant is counting on shoppers to scoop up discounted merchandise as soon as possible so it can avoid bankruptcy.
But despite the sales, one marketing professor says Sears is still trying to remain profitable.
David Soberman from the University of Toronto says the company hopes to survive once its restructuring is complete.
The Sears store at the Pen Centre in St. Catharines is not among those slated to close.
