As the premier promises to address the growing public health crisis from a rising number of opioid overdoses and deaths, a local organization is planning an event this week to help those addicted to the drugs.
Premier Wynne yesterday met with front line workers who handed her an open letter asking her to declare an emergency
Wynne says her government is committed to fighting the crisis and working more closely with people who are living with addictions, as well as front-line workers and experts.
Meantime, here in the region, Positive Living Niagara will host an event to mark International Overdose Awareness Day at the Central Avenue Fire Station in Fort Erie on Thursday evening starting at 6:30.
The evening will end with a memorial service for those who have lost a loved one to addiction.
