With reports of domestic violence climbing since the beginning of the pandemic, a local man is re-imagining an annual fundraiser designed to help women and children fleeing abuse.
To make sure the spirit of the annual Gillian's Place"Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" event continues, Ian Bingham, the captain of a local team, will help keep the tradition alive.
This year, instead of an indoor event, Bingham will be taking to the streets on October 17th, decked out in pink and wearing stilettos.
A release from his team says "at 6'2", Bingham is still tracking down a pair of heels in his size, but has committed to finding and wearing the shoes for the entire mile."
Bingham's team and donations page is linked to his Facebook account (/ianbinghamliberal), with a goal to raise $1,500 before next month's walk.
