A Conservative MP from Niagara is taking issue with a plan to ship nuclear waste from a facility in Ontario to the U-S via the Peace Bridge.

Niagara West Glanbrook MP Dean Allison says he has concerns about the safety of the plan.

Earlier this month, a U-S court approved the proposal to ship the liquid nuclear waste from Chalk River to a disposal facility in South Carolina.

Allison says he wants to hold a public meeting this spring to hear from Niagara residents.

The MP noting he is concerned about what may happen if there is a freak accident, adding it would put not only the public but our first responders at risk.
