A Niagara MPP addressing the criticism levelled by some parents and teachers against the province's back to school plan.
Under the plan, unveiled yesterday, elementary students go back full time with restrictions on their movements, and most high school students will only attend half the time, with a maximum class size of 15.
Masks will be mandatory for students in grades 4 to 12 as well as social distancing of one metre.
Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff denies the plan is underfunded and jeopardizes the safety of students and staff.
He notes the province is dedicating significant funds to hire 500 more nurses to work in schools and 1,200 more custodians.
Oosterhoff adding the plan was done in consultation with medical experts as well as labour partners.
