After more than three decades of service, a Niagara-On-the-Lake councillor is planning to call it a job well done.
Jim Collard has been a near constant presence at the horseshoe since 1987, excepting one four year break.
During Monday night's meeting, the councillor announced he will not be running for re-election in the Fall,
"Jim Collard will become a footnote in history. But I appreciate all of your support through all of these years, all of those people who have voted for me, and especially the support of my wife and family."
Collard also presented the town with a new hand crafted gavel block to replace one he had broken years earlier during a particularly fiery meeting.
