Niagara Regional Police are asking for public assistance identifying a suspect in a financial elder abuse case.
In February, a St. Catharines senior fell victim to a woman claiming to be his niece who was called asking for money.
When told he could not help her, the woman began to cry and the victim then agreed to get her the money.
The woman then advised that a man would come by and pick up the money.
A short time later the male suspect went to his house, collected an envelope of money and left on foot.
A few minutes later, the victim received a second phone call from the same woman, again asking for money.
The victim then attended his local bank and made a withdrawal.
The same man returned a second time to collect another envelope of cash and again walked away on foot.
Both the male and female suspects and the victim speak Polish.
The suspect is described as a male, 5 foot 8 inches tall with medium toned skin and black short hair with dark eyes.
He was wearing all black clothing.
The vehicle he was driving is described as a newer GMC Sierra crew cab (4dr) pick-up truck, black with a tonneau cover, chrome bars and after-market spoked rims.
