Niagara police say a 911 caller indicated there was an event unfolding the Pen Centre in St. Catharines on Wednesday evening.
The caller said there was imminent danger to the public and that firearms were involved.
Several police officers responded, however, they quickly determined the call was a hoax and there was no threat to the public.
Police obtained video footage and captured images of a male suspect who used a specific payphone at the time the 911 call was made.
Police are asking for the assistance of the public in order to identify suspect.
He described as:
-White male
-Approximately 20-30 years old
-Between 5'7'' to 6'2'' feet tall
-Brown hair, buzz cut
-Unshaven with brown hair
-Wearing orange zip-up hooded sweatshirt with white strings
-White t-shirt with gold lettering
-Blue t-shirt under the white shirt
-Light blue jeans
-White/grey running shoes.
