Niagara Regional Police detectives are working to identify a man seen in a Facebook post that has gone viral.
Zoya Rajput, a Niagara woman made the post public that has been shared over 20,000 times after she claims she was followed by a man Sunday night after she left work in Niagara Falls.
Rajput says she was followed at the top of Murray Hill in the Fallsview parking lot beside Tim Hortons by the unknown man.
She says the man was waiting around her car and he tried opening the passenger side door when she unlocked her doors.
Rajput says luckily she did not have the remote lock system for her car set up, so she only unlocked her drivers' side door when she used her key to unlock the door.
She claims that she took pictures of him when he was unsuccessful getting into her car.
She snapped photos and even videos of the man.
Rajput says the man claimed to know her, but when she asked how he knew her or her name he stuttered and pretended he couldn't hear her.
She calls the experience scary saying she doesn't want it happening to anyone else so people should keep an eye out for him.
Niagara Regional Police say they were notified of the incident late Sunday evening.
Police say detectives are working to identify the man in question so they can interview him to determine his intentions.
The NRP adding that as a public safety message – they would encourage people to always be aware of their surroundings, and if they may be being followed or in a potentially harmful situation to find a safe area with people around then report the incident immediately to police.
