Lowes is the latest retailer to start shuttering stores.
The company plans to close 31 stores in Canada, including 9 in Ontario as part of a plan to focus on its most profitable operations.
In Ontario, it is mostly Rona stores that will be closed, but two Lowes locations are among the closures.
The company is also closing 20 stores in the United States.
In Ontario the two Lowes locations set to close are in North York and Sault Ste. Marie.
Lowes operates one store in the Niagara Region, in Niagara Falls.
