The question up for debate tonight at St. Catharines council is who do local politicians answer to, voters or the board's they have been appointed to?
Councillor Joe Kushner is set to present a motion at council tonight, calling for elected officials in St. Catharines to be loyal to residents.
The move comes on the heels of a proposed code of conduct in front of the Niagara Peninsula Conservation authority that would require all board members, most of them elected politicians to pledge loyalty to the board.
But NPCA board member and St. Chatarines Regional Councillor Bruce Timms says last week, a sub-commitee decided that oath be removed from the proposed code .
The NPCA board will vote on the change June 28th.
