Niagara Regional Police closed down a section of a south Welland neighbourhood after getting a call about a wanted man.
Yesterday afternoon around 3:20 p.m. police were told of a possibly armed man in a Broadway Avenue apartment.
As a precaution, the surrounding area was closed and some homes and businesses were evacuated while negotiators were called.
Just over three and a half hours later, the man was taken into custody without incident and residents returned home.
Forty-four-year-old Jack Audenaert faces two counts of breach of recognizance and is being held for a bail hearing today.
There are no additional charges.
