A man has been charged in the drowning death of a Toronto high school student.
In July of last year, 15 year old Jeremiah Perry was on a class canoe trip in Algonquin Park when he was reported missing after he disappeared under the water on July 4th. His body was found the next day.
Following Perry's death, the Toronto District School Board revealed about half of the students who were allowed to go on the trip had failed the swim test.
Since then, new measures have been put in place, including mandatory second swim tests.
As a result of an OPP investigation, 54 year old teacher Nicholas Mills of Caledon has been charged with criminal negligence causing death.
