The SIU is investigating the arrest of a man in St. Catharines.

The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding a serious injury sustained yesterday by a 34-year-old man in St. Catharines.

Officials say the incident occured at approximately 9 a.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018.

Niagara Regional Police officers responded to a home in the area of Manchester Avenue and Whitmore Street after receiving a call.

Upon entering the residence, the officers located a man and there was an interaction. 

The man was taken into custody and subsequently transported to hospital where he was diagnosed with a serious injury.

Two SIU investigators have been assigned to this incident.

The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529.

The Unit is also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU website.
