A man was airlifted to a Hamilton hospital suffering from serious injuries after climbing into a hydro substation in Port Colborne and knocking power out across the city Saturday night.
Power went off for a few minutes after 11:00 p.m.
Niagara EMS say a man climbed into the hydro substation at Davis and Durham Streets.
Firefighters report they could hear someone yelling from inside.
Hydro One had to shutdown the substation to allow firefighters access to the man, who was trapped behind a fence and a concrete wall.
Fire Chief Tom Cartwright tells Post Media if firefighters had tried to get to the patient before the shutdown, they risked being electrocuted
Power was off across the city for at least two hours after the incident, as police were investigating.
