Although it may not seem like it from a quick glance, a new report suggests Niagara's manufacturing sector is still going strong.
The study entitled "Shifting Gears: Examining the recent upswing of Niagara’s manufacturing sector" shows the field added 2,075 jobs between 2012 and 2018.
While large plants and factories used to be hallmarks of the trade, authors of the study say there are now more small firms, employing less than 500 people, accounting for the growth.
The largest increases are noted in plastics and rubber manufacturing, followed by beverage and tobacco, chemical, and transportation equipment manufacturing.
