American officials say Canada's legalization of recreational marijuana has not had any impact on traffic flow at border crossings today.
Christopher Perry with the US Customs and Border Protection Agency told a news conference in Detroit that officials don't anticipate asking Canadian travellers routine questions about their pot use.
He says if a Canadian citizen is going to the United States with the interest to facilitate or develop the marijuana industry, they would be deemed inadmissable.
He adds customs agents will have latitude to exclude travelers who are promoting the marijuana trade.
Perry says Canadians caught bringing pot into the US risk having it confiscated and could face fines.
