Four Niagara mayors want to put an end to plans to send the region's beleaguered CAO to China.
The Standard reporting St. Catharines mayor Walter Sendzik, Welland Mayor Frank Campion, Lincoln's Sandra Easton and the mayor of Fort Erie Wayne Redekop have sent a letter to the CAO, Carmen D'Angelo and outgoing regional chair Alan Caslin protesting the trip.
Easton, who was the only one of the four to respond to an interview request, says it should be up to council to decide who will go on the business trip.
D'Angelo will head to China next week where he will represent the region at a trade expo in Shanghai.
The trip will cost taxpayers over $4,000.
